Competence

The Act on the State Electoral Commission of the Republic of Croatia (hereinafter: the Act) regulates the following: the establishment of the State Electoral Commission as a permanent authority; the composition of the State Electoral Commission;  the manner of electing the  President, Vice- Presidents and Members of the State Electoral Commission; the  scope of activity, methods of work and decision-making; relations with citizens, authorities and institutions in the Republic of Croatia; co-operation with international organizations and institutions, and other matter of significance related to the scope of activity of the State Electoral Commission.

The State Electoral Commission is a permanent and independent state authority which acts within its scope of activity in accordance with the said Act and other laws regulating conduct of elections in the Republic of Croatia and conduct of state, local and advisory referenda as well as supervision of political activities,  election campaign  and referenda financing.
